Our laboratory in Coatbridge is closing permanently; it will open for the last time on Friday November 15th 2019. We’ve already been in touch with clients directly affected by this closure but we wanted to make sure all of our clients know about our new sample transport arrangements in Scotland.

While we will no longer have a laboratory in Coatbridge, our laboratory in Aberdeen remains, and we are completely committed to remaining a trusted partner to all of our clients. To that end, we have retained our transport employees in Scotland and will continue to serve the area as normal. All samples will now be transported to other laboratories within the ALS group for analysis.

Our new ALSelf Check-in drop-off location in Coatbridge

The Coatbridge laboratory has been replaced by a new ALSelf Check-in location, a drop-off point that is free to use and accessible Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:30. You’ll need to call us before you use this drop-off site for the first time so that we can give you the relevant access codes. Once you have the access codes, you won’t need to call us every time you want to drop off samples – you’ll simply complete the sample log on site; it’s as simple as entering the date, your company name, the number of boxes you’re leaving and whether your samples are being submitted for any microbiology work. Changes to our Dundee and Edinburgh drop-off locations

We’ll continue to operate our Dundee and Edinburgh drop-off locations but we are changing the way they operate. You’ll need to book your samples in the day before collection is required, we call these On Demand locations. You must notify us of your intention to use the Edinburgh and Dundee drop-off locations by 4 p.m. the day prior to drop-off to ensure that one of our drivers will be routed to collect your samples – we won’t visit these locations on a daily basis without notification. On Demand locations both improve efficiency and reduce our environmental impact by limiting the number of journeys our vehicles make.
