Activated Sludge
ALS Laboratories are able to provide analytical data for both chemical and microbiological parameters on Activated Sludge. The regulations for the testing and monitoring of activated sludge can be found in Sludge (Use in Agriculture) Regulation 1989 (amended in 1990). The regulations provide limits for the maximum permissable concentration values (MPCV) for sludge that is to be used on aggricultural land.
Our specialised Activated Sludge laboratory in Wakefield can provide analytical data for your sludge samples so as to determine a range of determinants including:
- pH value
- Percentage content of dry matter
- Organic Matter
- Metals content
- Nitrogen
- Phosphorus
In addition to chemical analysis of sludge, ALS Laboratories are also able to offer a broad range of microbiological determinants from our dedicated Waste Microbiology laboratory. This is one of our specialist microbiological laboratories, which sit seperate to our standard microbiology laboratory. ALS Laboratories have over 20 years experience in processing and analysing this complex matrix and so are able to offer a range of various diluition factors on a variety of micro-organisms including:
- Salmonella
- Colifoms
- TVC @ 30oC
- E-coli
- Salmonella
- Yeast & Mould
- Pseudomonas Species
Once an organism has been grown in our laboratory we are able to provide the confirmation of the bacteria using our revolutionary MALDI-ToF confirmation which can provide a full genus and species level identification.
