Feb 21, 2014
The Legionella Control Association (LCA) held a of Duty Holder event at St James’ Park , Newcastle on Tuesday the 25th February to raise awareness of the recent changes to Legionella legislation and guidance. As a committed member of the LCA, we sent two technical delegates to represent ALS Environmental to take part in the discussions.
The LCA are one of the driving forces of the Legionella testing and monitoring community and this events will be held in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to raise awareness of the updated ACoP L8 document and the Health and Safety Guidance (HSG) 274 which were revised in November 2013.
For the Newcastle event, ALS Environmental were represented by Simon Benton (Principal Scientist) and Talvinder Chohan (Technical Advisor), both of whom have a wealth of laboratory experience with the methods used to detect Legionella and in the isolation of the bacteria.
Stephen McNulty, Sales Manager at ALS Environmental comments:
“With all of the recent developments to ACoP L8 and HSG 274, including the consultation on Part 2 for hot and cold systems, we feel that it’s important for ALS Environmental to have a presence at this event. Attending this event will give customers the chance to ask questions of their laboratory service providers and for ALS to raise our profile within the industry. The event will ensure that we understand the driving market forces and will help to make us aware of the changes in guidance to consider any potential internal ramifications of these changes.”
ALS Environmental are a member of the LCA, have ISO/EN 17025:2005 accreditation for the analysis of Legionella and hold DWTS accreditation for private water testing, including the analysis of associated microbiology parameters.
