ISO 14001 Certification
Jul 8, 2014
Following an audit in May 2014 ALS Environmental have retained our International Standards Organisation (ISO) 14001:2004 certification. The audit was carried out to the ISO Standard with the aim of the audit to check the effectiveness of our environmental management system.
ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an environmental management system to enable ALS Environmental to implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which ALS subscribes, and information about significant environmental aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that ALS identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence.
The ISO 14001:2004 auditor spent one day at our Drinking Water centre of excellence in Wakefield and one day auditing our main Waste Water and Contaminated Land laboratory in Coventry. Our next inspection will be in September and will incorpate a visit to our Chester laboratory that is dedicated to the monitoring of the River Dee, which supplies over 2.5m people with Drinking Water in the North West of England and North Wales.
All the requirements in ISO 14001:2004 are intended to be incorporated into any environmental management system, ALS Environmentals Health and Safety Manager Paul Talbot comments
"Our commitment to the Environment is key to our business philosophy. With a higher emphasis than ever being placed on Carbon Footprints and Energy consumption it was pleasing for the auditor to take particular interest in the energy reduction plans in place for the Coventry laboratory over the coming year."
ALS Environmentals retention of ISO 14001:2004 certification is further commitment to our focus on delivering effective and efficient analytical services that both protect and maintain the local environmental.
