Changes to The Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road
Apr 10, 2025
ALS wish to advise on some recent changes to the ADR (The Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road). One of these changes relates to preservative sample bottles which some of you will collect from us directly.
These changes took effect on 1st January 2025 and there is currently in a grace period to
implement these changes before 1st July 2025.
Previously, any drivers transporting bottles under the Limited Quantity (LQ) exemptions did not need to receive training as per ADR 8.2.3; the new version of ADR states this is now required. The training must consist of:
- General Awareness Training
- Function-specific Training
- Safety Training
- Refresher Training
The bottles currently offered by ALS which fall under the LQ exemption are listed below. Any drivers collecting and transporting these bottles must have received ADR training.
- STL 47 bottle for Alkylphenol analysis.
- STL 112 bottle for BDE, PAH, TBT, cypermethrin and HBCDD analysis.
- STL 113 bottle for CIP pharmaceuticals Suite 2.
- STL 470 jar for speciated phenols analysis.
- 5ml Alsterberg reagent bottles for Dissolved Oxygen analysis.
- 40ml methanol preservation vials for VOC analysis on soils.
You must ensure that any drivers collecting these containers have received the required training.
