ALS Environmental are delighted to announce the official opening of its fourth UK-based Environmental testing laboratory in Otterbourne, Hampshire. Initially, the laboratory will conduct microbiological and inorganic drinking water chemistry for Southern Water Services (SWS) with plans afoot to be able to process commercial samples in 2017. For commercial customers wanting to use ALS Environmental’s analytical services, there is also a convenient drop-off location based at the Otterbourne laboratory site. 

ALS Environmental's Andy Barton, Operations Manager at Otterbourne and Stephen May, Otterbourne Team Leader, held the ribbon at the entrance of the laboratory with Pete Harris, Head of Water Supply and Energy at SWS cutting the ribbon to officially open the laboratory. The day was closed with business update presentations and gifts for the ALS Environmental laboratory staff to say thank you for their part in creating the new laboratory to such high standards.

Upon the opening of the new ALS laboratory in Otterbourne, Rickard Olofsson, Managing Director of ALS Environmental commented;

I am proud of the hard work and dedication of the team involved in redesigning and refurbishing of the Otterbourne site. The efficiency of the rebuild enabled the method validations for our UKAS and DWTS accreditation to happen ahead of schedule. The laboratory specialises in the analysis of drinking waters for microbiology and physical chemistry. The site is operated by a team of analysts in order to deliver a quality service and to analyse the water samples within stability time. This is supported by a fleet of refrigerated vans who operate out of the Otterbourne laboratory to collect SWS's water samples from their strategic locations around the region.

Upon the opening of ALS Otterbourne, Pete Harris, Head of Water Supply and Energy at SWS, comments;

The presence of the laboratory in the local area is extremely important for Southern Water Services and it gives confidence to our business that analytical testing occurs efficiently

The ALS laboratory in Otterbourne has had 2 successful audits from UKAS prior to the official opening. This has given SWS an increased confidence in our ability to perform against contractual KPI's and to deliver a seamless service.
