ALS Environmental Participate in 'Discover Science' event
Jul 4, 2016
ALS Environmental are proud supporters of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Science, Technology and Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) network group. In the UK today, most schools and universities are struggling to get young people interested in science, whether it is for further education, personal interest or career prospects.
'Discover Science', a STEM group exhibition aimed at pupils aged between 11 and 14 years old was held on Thursday 23rd June 2016 at the RAF Museum, Cosford. This event was organised by the Midlands RSC group.
The exhibitors at the RSC STEM event ranged from universities, presenting the latest in Nanotechnology, to commercial companies showing how science can improve clothing. The aim of the STEM event was to raise awareness of science and how young people can get involved in a STEM career in the future as well as give them an insight to potential future career paths.
Morten Christensen, Sales & Marketing Manager for ALS Europe, who represented ALS Environmental at the event comments:
ALS Environmental is proud to have participated in this event showing the pupils how one can instantly identify metal compositions of aeroplanes by using handheld analytical instruments and what Zooplankton looks like through a microscope. We are hoping that by getting involved we can contribute to the work done by the organiser to increase the knowledge and interest amongst the next generation of scientists.
