ALS Coventry Disruption – Water Outage

This morning, 6th January 2025, ALS has been suffering some significant operational disruption at our Coventry laboratory caused by an outage of our mains water supply.

Unfortunately, many of our laboratory processes require access to water both from as a technical requirement in delivering our test methods, but also as a health and safety requirement when handling dangerous and sometimes toxic chemicals, reagents and samples.

We have activated our business continuity plan and are working closely with our Water Utility provider aiming to prioritise the resolution of the supply problem and to understand how long our water supply will be unavailable.

We have already taken actions, including securing some emergency water supplies, that will allow us to continue to undertake analysis in a safe and compliant manner so far as we can, and we hope that the water supply will be back to normal later today. If this is not the case, then we will mobilise further contingency plans to maintain our service levels.

However, the disruption the lack of water has had within our laboratory will result in a backlog of testing work. We are developing plans as to how this backlog can be caught up as quickly as possible but unfortunately there will be some short-term disruption to service levels while we work though these plans.
