COVID-19 Update – July 2021
Jul 14, 2021
The recent confirmation that all legal obligations in England relating to the control of the COVID-19 virus would be removed from the 19th July 2021, has led ALS to undertake a review of the COVID-19 controls across our businesses.
As COVID-19 infection rates remain high we have taken the decision that ALL our existing COVID-19 secure workplace controls will remain in place for the time being. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, however, we do not anticipate any significant change to this decision before September 2021 at the earliest.
We appreciate that some of the COVID-19 controls can be onerous both for staff, clients and those visiting our laboratories. However, we must remember that the pandemic is far from over. Although the vaccination programme is providing increased protection from infection, the protection is not complete. We also have employees with medical conditions that may make them especially vulnerable to COVID-19 infection and subsequent illness. Safety is a priority at ALS and consequently we have decided upon a very cautious approach to the release of COVID-19 controls in our workplace.
We appreciate that the decision to retain our Covid-19 secure workplace controls may be disappointing for some. However, we have been successful to date in keeping the rate of COVID-19 infections amongst our staff well below the national average and we are determined to remain vigilant while the risk of infection remains high.
Once again, we would like to say thank you for the support of all of our clients in keeping ALS a safe place of work.
