ALS Support RSC Chemistry at Work Day
Jun 10, 2015
ALS Environmental are excited to be part of the Chemistry at Work day at the RAF Museum, Cosford on Thursday 25th June. The day is organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) for pupils of local schools. The day will feature a number of exciting hands-on workshops and talks that show how chemistry is used in jobs and unexpected places. All of this against the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) inspiring backdrop of the National Cold War Exhibition.
This event has run for a number of years now and this year will feature presentations from a wide variety of organisations which include alongside ALS:
- TATA Steel
- Greencore
- Pharmaceutical businesses
- University research groups
ALS Environmental will be represented at the RSC Chemistry at Work Day by Dr James Taylor, who sits on the Midlands Education Committee for the RSC and is part of our business dvelopment team. Dr Taylor comments:
ALS Environmental’s continued commitment to forging links with the local community especially in the promotion of STEM within schools and colleges. I feel really demonstrates our long term commitment to the next generation of scientist.
By helping students understand the importance of chemistry to society we hope to encourage them to consider chemistry and science overall as a career or worthy as a subject of further study. This is part of ALS Environmental’s ongoing commitment to promotion of STEM within the community. Under ALS Environmentals' community outreach programme this year we have had a number of very successful visits from local schools and colleges, exhibited at careers fairs and participated in highly rewarding mentoring schemes.
